‘Caries disease among an elderly population—A 10‐year longitudinal study’

Objectives To investigate the prevalence of dental caries and to identify risk factors for in an elderly population between 2008 2018. Methods This longitudinal study used data from a questionnaire survey clinical examination administered on two occasions 10 years apart 273 individuals who were 65 75 age 2008. The variables included as well socioeconomic socio-behavioural factors. Results number teeth decreased both groups by mean 2 over 10-year period, but remained stable. Approximately, quarter participants had lesions. Toothbrushing once day or less was factor most strongly correlated with lesions (OR: 3.82, 95% CI: 1.68–8.66, p = 0.001), followed need homecare 3.50, 1.55–7.93, 0.003) interproximal cleaning than 2.65, 1.36–5.19, 0.004). Conclusions revealed no increase lesions, indicating that good oral health can be preserved among people. highest inadequate hygiene routines (toothbrushing seldom using devices) help daily living, emphasizing importance collaboration services community-based care.
